3d Printer

Post by M.Chriss »

I need to brush up on my CAD 3D skills, and come up with an extra $23,500.00. Maybe if I sold some of the kits I will never build.

I wonder how long until they show up on ebay?

Before you invest in your own equipment, check out existing on-line services.
They have good prices and convenient system at http://www.printapart.com for example.

We have a similar printer at my work as well. I had my hopes up when they got it in as they said it was one of the best money can buy, but I was disappointed resolution of the 'prints'. Parts would need a lot of clean up and would probably only suit large parts with minimal detail. Great to watch as the they print though. The best 'quality' I've seen so far is a very fine resolution SLS.

Is it just me or do the rapid prototyping machines (that carve into a block) work much better than the printers (that lay down the layers)??

Is it a cost vs outcome equation?

Guess you have to cast a copy before painting anyway?

And is there a cost effective supplier doing this work out there?

Very cool .......... workable prototyping!

Questions remain regarding the quality of the finish rendered, but there's potential here!

Have to chisel out the time to investigate.

Thanx,
