Quick update.

I tried the clear that came with the motochrome, shaken, warmed and left to sit. After trying on the very back and bottom of the car it was almost like there was too much thinner in it. It took the chrome paint right off!

I ended up cleaning the airbrush and using Finisher clear instead.

The panel lines look good thanks to the black base, the only problem is I need to touch up some areas because the clear pulled the paint back around some of the panel lines.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the results and the car is ready for the decals.

Thanks for looking.

Hey, I use one of those multi-grip tools to hold my resin kits too!
Interesting point to note about the clear effecting the silver - I'll watch out for that when I get to this point myself.

If you use the motochrome here is what I found works.
1. Clean and prime part
2. Black, Very Shinny layer
3. Clear this black layer
3. Shoot on motochrome
4. Clear - This is going to look like crap when you are done because it washes out the chrome
5. Shoot another layer of Chrome
6. Clear again and this will come out perfect.

Shoot the motochrome at a very very low pressure and build up layers.

Top Studio Brake set looks great on the car and I pained them darker than most of the the other kits I have built. My reference pics show Mclaren with very dark rotors. Still not sure if I will add the turned bolts I bought for the brakes on this kit.

Tires are done. White line painted followed by the tires getting ripped up by a metal brush on the dremel. Very good effect and nice build up of rubber on the tires.

Wheels are painted with Tamiya Metallic Black, Tamiya Clear and decals on. I'll take pictures of the tires and wheels tomorrow.

The only sticking point right now is the paint for the wings.
I cannot match the orange decals for the wings!
I have painted and stripped several times and just cannot get it to look right.
Suggestions?

Thanks for looking and for the comments while I was away.

Oh and I need to get this and the F2000 off the bench for my first MFH...Ferrari 248!

Hi,

Holy cra...... not a job I want to do, I don't even clear any of my builds, let alone multiple layers like this.

But none the less it looks very good indeed.
Keep it up.
