Yes both new Eagle kits have the birdcage structure. The re issues of the old MPC kits do not.

If the birdcage tubular structures are hollow and there's stuff underneath, it'd be a dream 8) that was the main MPC's release's flaw...

Do you have a part number? I am looking for some.

Thanks,

Joe.
I got an assortment of sizes. I probably won't use them all. If I run out I'll get more. Just search 1/12 fittings at BNAModelWorld.com
1/12 Hose Joints (1.5mm, resin)
1/12 Hose Joints (2.5mm, resin)
1/12 Hose Joints (1.6mm, resin)
1/12 Hose Joints (1.3mm, resin)

Still working on the set-up before i will start with some modeling parts.

When you say the new kits, which ones are you referring to Eric? I'm interested.

I build the MPC Eagle kit when I was about 14 years old and still have it. I thought that show was great, and had a lot of imagination. The Testors bottle enamel paint Chrome Silver that I used from back then I painted by hand brushing on the engine nozzle bells, and I swear that paint is one of the best chrome finishes I've ever seen. When it was done flow leveling and drying, the cured paint looks like modern MirraChrome finish - it was that good. I can't imagine what that paint had in it that made it flow and level so well...probably illegal now...

Cheers,
AJ

Welcome to the fold! or should I say madness? The build envelope with these is larger than the Photon, so I'm thinking you are going to do 1/12 prototypes to turn into resin copies, right? The Capri is not going to be the first, so I'm curious, is it going to be another Porsche? 908/3 would be an easyish project to start with :)

Nope, not a porsche.
First one will be a Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth.
But only for me. No resin copy's this time.
First will have to check the quality and try with different filaments. Will start with PLA, but think ASA will be the best choice for modeling.

A long way to go.

Polar Lights/Round2 have two kits of the Eagles, one in 48th scale, one in 72nd scale. Plus accessories...

New 22" Eagle
New 22" Eagle
These are completely new. They also re-issued the old kit which you've already built.

So that example shown is the 22" / 1-48th scale version correct? Me like!!!

That birdcage is WAAAAY more realistic looking than the original MPC release - which was fine for it's time but now this is a better interpretation. I'll have to see if I can find one. That will be a severe test of my weathering / pre-shading skills which I've not performed in modern times (since I've been building F1 and not aircraft).

Thanks very much Eric.

AJ
