Re: Jeep's Montreal Trackside View 2017
And here we are at Sunday. *Sigh* It's over already!!!
Wow! What a way to concentrate during the warm-up lap!!!!
The sunshine helps the 81's nice, clean livery.
I guess the other guys were too envious of his *huge* airbox from Saturday, so he used a smaller one on Sunday.
The organizers need a "Keep Off The Grass" sign...
Yet another outside pass at the Hairpin by a Villeneuve car!
Amazingly, the 78 took the lead and won!
The 91 is still one of the nicest-looking Chapman creations.
The Wolf soldiers on, and on, and on...
To be fair, the car probably knows the track better than the driver...
Ok, now back to the current stuff. Felipe Massa:
a) is enjoying the sunshine better than last year's cold weather.
b) doesn't yet know that his race will be *very* short.
Daniel Ricciardo, easily the biggest smile in F1!
Kimi Raikkonen, as happy as I've ever seen him.
For Sebastian Vettel, the inverted cap wasn't so much a fashion statement: it was *very* windy on Sunday and if he hadn't thrown it into the crowd, he would probably have lost his cap anyway!
Max Verstappen was evidently felling good about his chances.
You have to feel sorry for Fernando Alonso. By the look on his face, so does he!
Homeboy Lance Stroll enjoying the crowd support.
Lewis Hamilton: Showman extraordinaire!
"Hey Seb, I lost my ride. Can I get a lift back to the pits?"
The traditional fly-by having been done, we can get to the serious matters at hand.
Only the warm-up lap and already my last picture of Massa!
These two spent most of the race line astern...
"No pressure, Lance, but all of the teams hopes are now squarely on your shoulders. No pressure."
Fernando gave it the old college try...
Just before the restart. I had such hopes for a good fight...
...but nothing doing. He had more than just an ace up his sleeve.
More like the whole deck!
"If, if, if... 'IF' if 'F1' spelled backwards."
Given his record here with Williams, I really expected more from Valtteri Bottas.
The damaged front wing on Vettel's car spelled doom for his hopes of taking the fight to Lewis.
There's champagne in Daniel's future, or at least in Daniel's shoe's future!!!!!
The front wing had been replaced, but the damage had been done.
Lance put up a good fight!
Seb starting locking up almost as soon as he got his second set of tires on, but he had a lot of ground to make up if only to catch up to the tail-enders!
At least Sergio Perez doesn't have to race with the green Flow-Viz...
Fernando did pretty well to get into the points early on.
Heavy traffic in the mid-field!
Jolyon Palmer gave it his all...
Maybe Daniil Kvyat should have read the rules about what you have to do when you can't start your warm-up lap along with everybody else...
Every time Alonso drove by I wondered if I'd see him again on the next lap.
Yes, Lance Stroll led Sebastian Vettel for position!
Admittedly, Seb did a creditable job of climbing his way up the pack.
The McLaren MCL32's rear wing is an oddity and the one with the most elaborate slots.
"Always a bridesmaid, never a bride..." (at least in Canada)
Lance did a fair bit of locking up and his tires showed the wear and tear, but they held on.
Some people in my grandstand sang "Valtteri, Valttera" at various times through the weekend.
I was quite happy to see Lance and Fernando actually in the points for a while...
Ricciardo held off the Force India charge quite well.
An internal battle brewing at Force India. I was both surprised and disappointed that there wasn't a single pass for position at the Hairpin this year.
You could almost feel the pressure Lance was under...
Seb had finally caught up to the Force India train, but he was running out of laps.
The pink and red train lasted a while.
Kimi had a rather lonely race.
Frustration mounts in the Ferrari cockpit...
Fernando *almost* made it, but there aren't any points for "almost".
One down, one to go!
Valtteri didn't seem to have his usual Montreal fight in him.
Marcus Ericsson is keeping right out of this fight!
Kimi had a few close calls, but he seemed as unflappable as ever.
The internal battle at Force India could now resume, Seb having gotten past both Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon.
The Sauber drivers have only one job these days: finish!
"Oh, no you don't!!!!"
Oh yeah. Two points that definitely feel like a win!!!!
Romain Grosjean goes deep into the Hairpin to celebrate.
Despite a few hairy moments during the weekend, mission accomplished for Pascal Wehrlein.
As much as Lance's 9th felt like a win, Valtteri's second place feels like a pointless finish to me.
Quite a drive from the back for Seb. Very decent damage control, but what could have been...
Hamilton goes *very* deep in the Hairpin to celebrate...
...and the crowd readily joined in!
Kimi's satisfaction was plain to see.
And Nico Hulkenberg waves us off. Another edition of the Canadian GP over and in the books (my 38th).
My latest acquisition. Thirteen signatures from last year. The money went to support the Gilles Villeneuve Museum.
An intruder in the Lance Stroll Fan Club!!!!
And, to conclude, easily the silliest shoes of the weekend!
See you next year!!!!

Good Stuff Here Jeep!!!
My puny 70-300 lens just could not get close like you did. I was sitting in the same grand stand as you, but in section 7 row KK. They were good seats, but just a tad farther from the hairpin to enable the really close shots that you got. I was shooting in the raw image format, so I should have a wide variety of editing options. I shot over 1800 photos, and I bet I will only have 100 that are any good.
