Correct.
Curios!! Do you have a picture of it?
I can`t find any picture of the 77 season on which is not shown that the last injection nozzle is not turned! Not in the Joe Honda book, not in the Haynes manual, not in the net, exept restored cars! Straight inlets yes, but everytime turned nozzles in 90° or even 180°! Very mystic.
Take a stand!

I have the Joe Honda book right before me, page 60 and 61 showed the cars from british gp 77, on page 60 you will see Jochen Mass engine with the last stack turned 180° ;)
I believe Akihiro did right, and take care of the helping frame on the rear that was used on Gilles car this race Christian, i don`t know if the kit offers this oppertunity.

As long as no one is getting confused between the distinction of stacks which are curved as on the early cars, straight stacks and straight stacks which are leaning inward.

I think it is about the configuration shown in the attached picture.

In my opinion it has something to do with the airbox.
The Tamiya instructions for the 1974 M23's show the normal configuration, while the instruction of the 1976 M23 has the configuration of the attached picture.
If I am right, the 1976 and beyond airbox might sit so tight on top of the engine, that McLaren had to turn the last stack in order to get the airbox fixed.
