Should be good. H's Ferraris have been stunning, so hopefully they will do a good job of what is undoubtedly a historically significant car.

FANTASTIC!!!
WONDERFUL!!!
BRILLIANT!!!
OK, What car kit should we be talking (asking for) about next people? If they are really listening!!
I'd like to see a McLaren M19A/C 1971/72, But at the moment I am delighted to hear Hasegawa are releasing the Lotus 79, what a great subject :D

Looking forward to it.

I just sold my Studio 27 Lotus 79 as soon as I heard this. Got good money for it too.

I see at least 4 different versions:

1978
1979
1979 - Tyrrell Conversion (I always and still believe the 009) was built from Lotus plans.
1979 - Rebaque car

This is the best F1 modelling news of the year, as fas as I'm concerned. The only way it could be better would be if it was a 49 instead!

I'm so happy, I'm off to apply for a new credit card to pay for all the 79s I want!
Some say he believes Star Wars is a documentary...

I never thought this day would come! Even with all the recent releases from Fujimi and Hasegawa, I'm seeing nothing but red. Really didn't see this coming! Dare I hope for a BT49 or BT52 in their pipelines as well?

But you know what? Before I've even seen the model mock up or box art, I'm already thinking "what about a 1:12 version"? :D

We F1 model builders (OK, in my case F1 model buyer/storage provider, hoping situation would improve in the years to come) can be needy again, yay!

Introduced by a classmate, I started getting into F1 and F1 modeling around the the period when the 79 just won the championship. And it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

Well, the thing is, it's no secret that Hasegawa has been wanting to release several DFV powered classic F1 cars by sharing as many parts as possible ever since they entered the 1/20 scale F1 kit biz.
(Or, at least that's what some of the JP enthusiasts have heard from Hasegawa reps at hobby shows.)

But I heard a similar thing about classic rally cars when they released the Lancia 037 kit (sadly the popular Delta S4 and Ford RS200 didn't materialize), so I guess it all comes down to the strength of the market.

This is indeed good news, whether one is a fan of the 79 or not (I am), as was so rightly pointed out Hasegawa now have a DFV. That opens up literally hundreds of possibilities from 1967 all the way through to the mid 1980s!
We are indeed in a golden age of 1/20th F1.
