I did a F-40 - F-40Lm conversion not long ago that gave me a good deal of pain.
Great !! Do you have pictures of your build ? I would love to see the F-40LM.

Sure, I have a batch of photos that I'd be happy to share.

I don't want to steal your thread though. Would you rather I e-mail them (and are you on a fast connect) ? If so just PM me your address.

Cheers,

After 3 sessions of filling and sanding, it finally starts to look smooth :

The covers for the pop-up headlights are looking a lot better :

The hole for the Ferrari plate has been filled with a 0,3 mm brass plate, and putty :

After looking at the pictures of the 1/1 scale Beurlys, I discovered that the big hole had the wrong shape.

After :

It's not easily visible on the pictures, but the hole has been widened on both sides by 4 mm.

I made the central "plate" in front of the windscreen from a aluminium bracket that came from an old computer, and cut it wit the Dremel :

It's not finished, the curve side that rests against the windshield needs some work :

Great looking stuff P!

This is going to be sweet ........... keep feeding us.

I'm guessing those flares about the rear wheel arches are going to be fun to work up.

Well, I've been looking at the pictures of the 1/1 Beurlys for days, and still I'm not shure if the shape of the big hole in the hood is correct. So I did some filing and bending to make the area in front of the windscreen a little flatter :

Image

And I started making the lip/edge around the big hole. Glued a plastic strip with "2 component glue", the strip needs to be sanded in shape :

After four "sessions" of filler, sanding and primer, it starts to look smooth :

There are still a couple of holes and bumps left, I hope that I will finally get rid off the last ones with more filling and sanding.

Well, this build is becoming a lot more complicated then I thought

First, I made the two side "bulges" that are located just in front of the windscreen :

Image

Image

Image

The bulges appeared to be OK, but after looking at the pictures of the real Beurlys, I noticed that the shape not correct. They're not long enough and to narrow :

Image

But there was no way that I could make these bulges bigger without some more rebuilding of the hood. First I added a couple of plastic pieces to the rear of the bonnet, to make it longer, and change the angle of the base that will hold the windscreen :

Image

After :

Before :

Image

And I had to change the holes for the louvres for the third time !! They will be moved another 2-3 millimeters to the sides of the bonnet :

Image

Image

Image

And this is how they look now :

After the removal of the center square piece, I'm left with four holes on each side. New center pieces will be made, to change them into eight holes.

Till next time
