thanks for the comments & pics guys, more updates this weekend.
RE: Is this the final coat - I forgot to explain that in polishing the body I rubbed through to the primer underneath so I have to shoot a few more layers to build up the paint. I will then polish it smooth, add decals and then clearcoat. This will be my first clearcoating attempt, so here's hoping!

Now coming to the bit I enjoy least: front and rear wings in white metal, and having to sand them smooth, putty up the little holes etc. This is when I really appreciate how good it is to work with injected plastic... OK, more updates soon.
Test fit, the frontwing endplates fit very well to the main plane. The front suspension is very basic, with no attachment point details. It is also extremely soft and bendy. I have removed the left steering arm, as it was too long and bendy and I will replace it with some stronger & straighter rod. (the steering arm is cast in 1 piece together with the top wishbone)
Topview, the right steering arm is still in place, being a little too long, I had to bend it so that it didn't scrape the body while I was testfitting. I will replace it as per left steering arm.
The tyres are somewhat out of shape, I will replace them with some spare Tamiya tyres. The testfit wheels come from a Tamiya FW11.
By the way, here is a pic of the kit box.

Thanks Shayne, no worries I'll be happy to show it to you in the flesh!
However, a small mishap today - I had given the body a light sand to blend in the decal edges with the clearcoat, and got ready to give it the final bursts of clear wet coats when I saw a strange mark, it looked 3 little pin holes, I ran my finger over it, & then a large flake of paint came off
the flake also had the primer attached to it, so the bare resin was exposed... I managed to glue most of the flake back & am now trying to blend it back in with the rest of the body, so some slight delays...

Jeff what clear are you using? If you go with some 2K which i am happy to give you then it will hide any flaws as it is a very forgiving clear and hides all my mistakes.....lol, only problem is you get a very high sheen.

Too bad that this kit is discontinued (I can´t find it alteast)
This build makes me want one! I´m a sucker for the coral blue, it makes the car look like
a piece of candy
Great job dude!, and I know how it feels to "flake" a completed paintjob. I must say you seem to have
coped with it better than me.
Keep it up!
Cheers!
Emil
