WIP Matra MS11
Re: WIP Matra MS11
Great looking build and I would also voice that your photos are top notch!
I agree with Hacksaw that the Monaco version is pretty slick - those exhausts are killer. Be good to get some more photos though to see the modifications in detail.

Re: WIP Matra MS11
I have to say I'm not a fan of that nose on the Monaco version, but I do like those pipes!
I'm not too concerned about the color of the gearbox - my general style is I'm 'usually' not concerned if something is the right color, as long as it looks like it could be the right color (ie, I wouldn't paint the gearbox blue). FWIW, I'm using this restoration as a general guide and this is where I got the gearbox color: http://www.matrasport.dk/Cars/Sports-Fo ... index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Aside from slight mods to make the German GP version, I'm pretty much just building straight out of the box.

Great build so far.
What putty do you use?
Looking forward to watching the rest of the build.

Re: WIP Matra MS11
Are you going to make a decal set for the MS11? The Nurburgring #12 is not on the it's sheet. You could build the same configuration using #18 for practice at the British GP. However, for the race, they used the cockpit surround with the pannier fuel tank that was introduced in Holland, used in Belgium, GB, France and most of the other races. Italy, they used an even more developed piece . Check the LAT photo site for references!
If an aftermarket piece were ever made, the pannier tank body top would be the most useful. I am going to play around with 3 x 5 cards to make a pattern for sheet plastic. In an older Scale Models International, the reviewer used a mound of milliput to make the modification.

Re: WIP Matra MS11
Yes, I'm going to offer a German GP decal sheet. If anyone has any more pics from the German GP, that will be of great help - the pic I'm going by is pretty limited in what I can see, so I'm not 100% sure what needs to be included from the kit decals and what can be omitted. Obviously the Jackie Stewart related markings will be omitted.Nigel wrote:Are you going to make a decal set for the MS11?

'ere you go, guv'nr. Note the sticker at '9:30: on the nose's number. Appears to be an ADAC inspection sticker. Also note the tin 'sleeves' on the upper front links.

Re: WIP Matra MS11
in the montage, there is another view of the 12 car at the ring. See the red ADAC device here as well.

Re: WIP Matra MS11
Thank you sir!
Interesting to note that the ELF logo only has a white outline and is not on a white rectangle like the kit decals. Wish I could see how the word "ELF" is represented. Rather aggravating as I'd already placed that decal on the tank and it's not wanting to come off.
Any idea what the ADAC stickers look like?
