I like the FW07, and so welcome any build of this car. Great shot of all the lined up being painted separately, and it illustrates the cars modellers way of life; where pretty much everything is painted prior to assembly versus armour or aircraft modelling which is the other way around.

Thanks everybody for your comments.
I did a few more things this weekend, the engine was painted (wrongly
) and assembled, as it was the gearbox and rear suspension.
Instead of use a shade of aluminum color on the engine block I end up using gunmetal
, oh well, too late now
I did some washes with the detailer, and dry brushes with Tamiya Titanium silver.
Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures.
Till next update
(or should I say, up mistake?)

Hello everybody,
I have an update! Finally we had a day off from the World Cup
But unfortunatelly my update isn't like I would like
I painted the chassis and the body using Tamiya TS paints, white, racing green and aluminum. I left the side pods to be painted last and I had two problems: the green came out with lots of orange peel
and when I took off the mask I used to cover the aluminum and white colors, the tape left glue residues all over
I used a mix of Tamiya masking tape and blue painters tape (the villain
)
Here are some pictures
Not too bad here
Be careful with the orange peel
So, I decided, and did already, wet sand the orange peel and it didn't get any better. Sorry no pictures. Next I will use for the first time the Testors ELO Easy Lift Off to remove the paint and start it over.
But it is not the end of the world, I used tissue paper to simulate the cloth used by Williams at the Holland GP. I glued the tissue paper over the plastic "mesh" from the kit. The mesh is not glued in place yet.
A lot of work ahead and futball/soccer matches to watch
Regards,
Starr

Great to see this one still going. If you sand the paint back lightly and hit it with a clear you will never know.

Lookin' nice, Starr. And I like the tissue paper intake cover idea.
Cheers,

One of the most penultimate classic designs of any Formula One era, watching with interest.

Thanks Shunter, Chris and Steve,
I appreciate your comments.
It's time for another update, not much done since last one but it's better than a kit going back to the pile of unfinished
I received the decals from Indycals a couple of days ago and decided to start to apply them. And here is where I stand now.
There are much things to do still but I hope to cross the line in October in time for the Classic Plastic Model Show
And, of course, the deadline of this Group Build.
I'll try to do not take too long for the next update.
Regards,
Starr

Thanks Lesley,
It's time for a new update, all decals were applied, except the one that goes inside the cockpit because I didn't paint it yet. I'll wait a few more days for the decals to dry and clearcoat them. I also finished the wheels and tires. I brush painted the "good day" lettering with Testors flat white and had to do a few touch ups with flat black. The rear wheels were brush painted with Tamiya X-12 Gold Leaf. Also did a mockup of the front brakes.
Till next update,
Starr

Nice progress, Starr. I like the washes you gave your DFV. And it's good to see people overcoming their (orange peel, etc) problems. What kit is ever trouble-free?
And I just now noticed you've cut the top cowl in half. And easy "fix" to make it more like the real car. I want to do that when I rebuild my FW07.
Cheers,
Chris
