Re: Tamiya 1/12 McLaren M23 1976 Japan with MFH-tk
This will be very interesting to follow for many I would guess, I'd like to know all the problems and use your & others experiences when I get around to building this 1/12 M23 Trans kit,
I think some other member started a WIP of this around a year ago but it seems to be on hold or something for some reason!!..

I would be extremely interested as well. You pointers on corrections are very useful.gavrob wrote: ... I'll try to post some photos of my build at the weekend.

Ah!! It was your Good Self Flemming , I remember now and recall you had similar fit issues with the engine/suspension mountings also..Flemming wrote:I'm starting to feel pressure here...Dede wrote:

So, here we go. I've made some little progress on the body/chassis parts. First I've made photocopy's from the instructionmanual (MFH) to put on the body and front bulkhead.
Carefully filed and sanded the new openings in the body.

I didn't use the whitemetal part MFH provide. I think the metal will not bond properly to the plastic. I made templates from the original metalparts and cut them out from plastic. The plastic parts will bond/melt with the plastic body.
The front bulkhead had to change to. Also provided in the transkit is a template to cut the right pieces out. After marking the places where to cut I drilled small holes.
After cutting out with the drill, I carefully file and sand to the proper form.
Both sides finished.
Testfitting the bulkhead.
I forgot to take some pictures of the structurepanels for the frontsuspension. You must remove these mountingpoints (see the red arrows).
It will look like this after the mountingpoints are removed.
