Re: Finished Hasegawa Lotus 79 Jarier
Thank you all! I forgot a couple of points I wanted to make in my original post, if you will indulge me...
I forgot to mention I was very apprehensive about the decals doing that little "fogging" problem where the film lays bare against the black - especially along the cowling with the JPS - but I didn't have that problem period! So, for how difficult the Tabu's were to put on, they did a WONDERFUL job once on! I had thought maybe I had figured something out about how to not have that "filmy" or "foggy" problem, but then I applied a set of aftermarkets to a different black car and had that problem! Dog gone it! So those decals like Indys with the black background do serve a good purpose.
The other thing, is it me or does the Hasegawa kit seem more like a 1/21 scale kit? It all seems just a little smaller than Tamiya (who, for all I know may actually be 1/19 scale!) But I tried fitting some MFH mesh covers on the intakes and they were too big. So I had to use those clear plastic ones that came with the kit. I painted mine from the underside at an arms length with TS gold, it came out decently, I can still see the intakes through them, so...... Anyway! Thank you for checking my car out, hope to see more 79's soon!
P.S. I believe it was in Marco's thread that he put his front end plates on upside down.....I did too! Those guides fit right side up OR upside down!

Re: Finished Hasegawa Lotus 79 Jarier
That's interesting as the Hasegawa is actually 1mm longer overall, and the rear bodywork is several millimeters longer than the Tamiya. Regardless, I really like this build you did, nice work!bossy122 wrote: The other thing, is it me or does the Hasegawa kit seem more like a 1/21 scale kit? Re: Finished Hasegawa Lotus 79 Jarier
Beutifull build. Sharp and clean.
I have 3 different 79's a Studio 27 Canada, a Tamiya and a Hasegawa.
My plan was to build the S27 in to Jarier's car the Tamiya in to Peterson's and Hasegawa in to Andretti's.
Jarier was a vastly underrated driver and was as quick as most of the very best, just very unlucky.

Re: Finished Hasegawa Lotus 79 Jarier
I'd forgotten I even built that! Thanks everyone.
I too have the S27 kit that I bought when it first came out for around $200, because i always wanted to build this version. But when I got the kit and opened it up all I could think was, "Oh, a little over my head with this kit!" It's still in it's box waiting for me to get skilled enough to build it. The funny thing was, when MFH released their full Lotus 97 I REALLY had to fight off the urge to cough up $300 for that one and now Fujimi is releasing theirs and I feel SO relieved I didn't buy the Hiro!
