Re: 1/20 scale Lotus 63 resin kit
Some more Detail up parts for the Lotus...
- Radiator
- Brake Disks
- Calipers
- Steering Wheel and Rod
I decided to recreate a few visible parts.
It's a first print test from yesterday. So far the parts look good.
I'll definitely make a few adjustments and a few more parts will be added, too.

The tires and all the other new parts look impressive!
If you make them available for us, please count me in for a set.

Re: 1/20 scale Lotus 63 resin kit
I also wanted to try to recreate the engine and made a first print after creation.
Unfortunately, I discovered that Paul's version is significantly smaller than a standard 1/20 DFV.
As comparison, the Tamiya DFV, mine and Paul's version.
So back to the drawing board...

Re: 1/20 scale Lotus 63 resin kit
Hi Steinietrabi - I may have asked this before, and slightly OT, but is the Tamiya DFV the correct size for 1/20?

Re: 1/20 scale Lotus 63 resin kit
As the maker of the kit maybe I can answer this question. You are correct in thinking that the Tamiya engine is oversize. The Ebbro versions are closer to being accurate. The engine for the 63 was made undersize in order to accommodate the thickness of the resin bodywork. A larger unit could be fitted if the model was to be displayed with engine cover off, or alternatively the resin could be thinned on the inside. The second option was not an option for me as the bodywork would be unlikely to survive postage to the customer. Hope this helps…..

Checked the the Ebbro engine and the size is almost the same like the Tamiya one.
I don't know exactly where my drawings come from, but you're right of course. I can't say 100% whether they are exactly the correct measurements/dimensions.

Thanks Paul for your answer, I'll probably do the same as you and just make the engine a little smaller. I don't want to completely rebuild everything, just improve a few things in detail.tango77red wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 12:46 pm As the maker of the kit maybe I can answer this question. Re: 1/20 scale Lotus 63 resin kit
Stoped with the engine, I'll continue here a little later.
But I've started with the rear axle and I'm actually quite happy with it so far. I was able to print all the parts as planned.
The plan is to cut the rear part of the body (I haven't done that yet in the pictures). The opening for the springs on the rear cover needs to be moved a little bit rearwards, but it shouldn't be too complicated.
I'm attaching a few pictures.
