Remembering one of the Greats

Post by Dede »

The sad side of F1, remembering 'arguably' the greatest F1 driver today.
Three decades ago to the day today he passed away.
I often wonder what more he would have achieved, how many more World Championships, how many more poles...

Heard it on the radio this morning, probably first year I didn’t recall by myself.
30 years! no longer know if it looks much or little. Maybe because now it’s more than half my life.
Sorry if it sounds more introspective.
I guess Gilles and Didier dates impress me more.
About what he’d have achieved maybe ‘94 title and then retirement. One insider I talked to insisted he was rather burn out.
Anyway Race In Peace

Indeed one of the worst days i remember, the whole weekend left a bad taste in F1 history with Barichello`s crash, Roland Ratzenberger passing on Saturday in a terrible crash and the race itself with Senna crashing.
I remember this day as it has been yesterday, can`t believe it is 30 years now!
His legend will continue, to me he is one of the greatest of alltime!
Take a stand!

Watching ESPN during many races when Senna was heading to victory, Bob Varsha would comment, "Someday you'll tell your grandchildren that you saw THAT man drive a formula one car!" So true.

Clark and Senna....The years pass but the pain and sadness remains. Simply the best.

Well, I tell my kids it was a special time to see Senna drive and win. There is not been anyone like him since.

It was even more than that, if I recall!
Friday, the airborne Rubens Barichello crashing into the tires of the chicane just before the pit entry.
Saturday, the fatal crash of Roland Ratzenberger in the MTV Simtek car where you knew that very instant that that was it.
Sunday, the race start with someone rear-ending another car with a tire going into the grandstands (I believe hitting several spectators) and finally the grande finale with Ayrton Senna's crash.
And the next race after that was Monaco, I believe, where Karl Wendlinger had his massive off coming out of the tunnel.
Cheers,
Roman
