That Jaguar is awesome. It looks like an Amalgam car, which would make it in the $15-20k range, I believe.

The model arrived today, in many more pieces that is was shipped. It’s pretty much destroyed. It’s too bad, as it had some real potential. Bummer

Well, after a couple of weeks, I was refunded my money, and I got to keep the model. I disassembled it and while the damage is substantial, it is manageable. I washed and got it in primer and was surprised how decent it looks. Working on brakes and decals now. The easy way out would be to cheat and paint orange, like the test car from the MP4/13. Ultimately, this will hang on a museum wall if it looks good enough, so will anybody really notice or care? I do not think I can pull off that West paint job.

That is a 1/8 scale 643 for scale next to it.

It really doesn't look that bad, but I think you can put a lot of work into it if you want to.
In any case, I wish you every success and keep us up to date.

The west livery will not be easy to implement given the size! :?

Thank you, Steinietrabi for the encouragement. I have sorted the brake kit, the decals, the 3D parts needed, and when I bought the 1/8 MP4/23, they sent me a 1/4 scale steering wheel, which while not correct, will do and when I mocked up the cockpit, which comes out of the car as a separate piece, looks the part. I agree, the paint will be a problem to replicate. Any ideas where I can find Papaya Orange in a rattle can? I think I will have to cheat and fake a test livery from the MP4/13.

I could use a donor car at the right price, if anybody out there has one. I found one here in the US, but the price needs to come down a bit. It would save me some time making the 3D parts I need.

Ride height is going to be my main issue before anything. When together, it sits too high. If I can’t sort that out, it’s dead in the water. That front suspension is molded in and the other broke off in two pieces. I will have to cut the good one out and figure out how to mount it higher on the tub.

It will for sure be a fun project. A big test of skill and patience.

Color is ts56... suspension repositioning is surely at reach of your skills I’d bet.
At this size, cutting , filling holes, inserting pins to locate is well affordable.

Hi JamesB! Yes, I am not concerned about the front, easy enough. But my real problem is at the rear. I had to cut away the defuser as it was about 3/4 of an inch lower than the rest of the undertray to house that stupid motor/gearbox. I had to set a ride height, but it now lifts the bodywork off the undertray. The entire gearbox is so big, and those axles are HUGE! I am going to have go some serious cutting and pasting here to make this work. The axles have to go.

Yeah, sugestion: forget the original rear entire thing, make a dummy gearbox with 2mm plastic sheet, and make wishbones with same material :D

I found another car, which had all the parts that were missing from the first. The body was also not destroyed, so car 1 is now a donor car. I have put this away till I finish a pair of 643s and spring comes. I have also decided to remake the rear suspention out of metal. Still scratching my head on the front. I will likely remake the upper front A arms in metal as well. I cannot tell you all how happy my wife is to have these floating around the house.
