Very nice recovery work. It is better than the green decal.

Nice decal work! Are those Studio27 carbon decals cracking or lay down very soft?

Very nice detail work, the painting of the BP green is absolutely the way to do it, looks so much better than decal.

Thanks. My technique has been to dip the decals in hot water for around 30 seconds, wet the surface with Solvaset, lay the decal in position, add more Solvaset and keep wetting it for a minute or so. Then I soak up any excess Solvaset with a cotton bud and hit the decal with a hair dryer for a minute or two. Another application of Solvaset and some pressure with a cotton bud to get the decal down into any depressions, and one more application of heat from the hair dryer. The S27 decals are pretty tough, but I have had a couple of them crack if I tried bending them before getting them softened up. Tedious, but I think they look pretty good.

Great construction report. I only noticed him now. You're doing an excellent job. I also have this kit with the ST-27 CF decsls. Unfortunately, my kit decal cannot be used completely and I will not be able to use the green decsls. What green did you use. Was it a standard Tamiya color or a mixture. A precise mix ratio would make it easier for me. It looks like a simple kit, but I haven't built an OOB kit in a long time. I will follow their guidance on fa which have achieved very good results. The ST-27 set is very extensive, but a few small decsls are included. I have had very good results with Mr. Mark Softer (green lock) and for intricate shapes with the Mr. Mark Setter Neo. A careful use of heat is nevertheless necessary. Upgrading the model with some cables and hoses was a good idea. I am sure that when the construction is completed, this is a very nice model. I just read the article through completely and wrote down important items. Thanks for sharing and writing in detail. I'm looking forward to the rest and the completion.

Seema, unfortunately the green mix was not so easy. I started with Benetton green from MCW, for the B-192, and added some of their black until the color matched the decals. I believe the color is actually BP green, which is available from Zero and others, but I didn't feel like buying a bottle just for the small areas on this model. Sorry, but I don't have any recommendations for what to use with Tamiya paints.
