Surprised this hasn't been posted already, but in case anyone missed it...
F1 has dropped all four races in the Americas due to high infection rates in the US, Mexico and Brazil. They're being replaced by Nürburgring, Portugal (at Algarve, which is slated to be open to fans) and Imola.
Shame to see Brazil and Canada go, but it's cool to get some old tracks back on the calendar. And I can't help but think, you could make a really kick-ass calendar if you ignored Liberty and just cherry-picked the best tracks between the races originally scheduled 2020 calendar, and the races that will actually be run.
Canadian, US, Mexican, Brazilian GPs cancelled

Je ne regrette rien.

The tracks they have selected as replacements should make for enjoyable racing.
Was hoping for a mid Oct Canadian GP. Not to be and understandable. Will have to wait for 2021.
Our 2020 tickets by default are forwarded to next year's race, with the option for submitting a request for a refund.

Covid has been out of control in Brazil, I am guessing it still is, it certainly is out of control in Texas, Canada has a handle on it but I suspect two factors killed It one, Canada probably would ask for a 14 day quarantine before the race and since the other two races in the America’s are cancelled it would involve hemispherical travel for only one race.

Well I am heading up to Road America for the IMSA race this weekend. Atleast they are running races in Wisconsin this year, with humans in attendance. And open paddock !!

I don't care what the FIA says, if Formula E hasn't qualified as a world championship for years for unspecified reasons, then F1 won't have a world champion this year if all the races are in Europe. If it does, then every regional F3 driver is now a world champ as well!Teles wrote:"World" Championship raced only in Europe...

To me Covid makes certain rules and customs irrelevant. Would we prefer no f1 races. As far as i am concerned if they contest an adequate number of races and want to declare a championship i am fine with that. I am disappointed in Ferrari’s performance but there you go.

Up until the late 1950's they never left Europe other than to North Africa, although Indy was also part of the F1 calendar.
By the way, Road America was great on practice day. Only giveaway were the masks. 1/2 of the paddock was closed but the entire road course was open to humans. Alot of the Porsche Cup drivers said they skipped the Florida races last month. A ton of out of state plates in the parking area. This track is huge so you don't have to go near another person if you don't want to. Always reminds me of the full course Nurburgring only smaller.

Yes, everybody knows that in the middle of the past millennium F1 raced only in Europe, but was other times, for example only a few radios transmitted sports, the market practically did not know sports (and motorsports). From the 70's to nowadays is a joke a "world" championship happening in only one part of the planet.
