MATRA MS 11 Tamiya 1/12 scale

Post by glr190959 »

Hi everyone,
in conjunction with Ebbro's announcement to reprint the Tamiya kit of the Matra MS 11, I will post photos of my model built 37 years ago in 1983!
The Tamiya kit was not historically accurate; in fact, in the lid of the box was the drawing of the car with jackie Stewart driving who, except for some tests, never drove the MS 11 with a Matra engine in a grand prix. His MS 11 was equipped with the Ford-Consworth engine and, in those years, the same car ran with two different engines.
I am warning you that the documentation available on these cars is not very large; I, wanting to reproduce the Belgian GP version of 1968, had to heavily modify the upper fairing, considerably reducing the size of the transparent plexiglass windscreen and creating a petrol filler cap in front of the passenger compartment.
Regards,
Giovanni la Rosa

I bought this kit when it was reissued back in the late 90's. Had it ever been reissued before?

I remember being so excited by it and the Lola T-70 Mk III being available again.

Hi Biercemountain,
Tamiya made its first release on the market in 1969 and the kit made here dates back to that time.
Later, in the nineties, a very limited edition reprint was made; today, Ebbro, in collaboration with Tamiya, is offering a new reprint with the possibility of obtaining the 1968 British GP version, race car and car used during the tests.
Ciao,
Giovanni La Rosa

hi,
thanks jordan 2.0, Pierluigi and dgwoodward2, I'm glad you like Matra!
Considering that it is a 37 year old montage, I must say that it brings them well, also because it is kept in a single dispaly case.
