Re: MFH 911 Carrera RSR Turbo
Hi everyone and thx for your nice comments
Redbox, to your question re 3D printer used: it's the Anycubic Photon
Since my last post, there has been some progress on the components of the front suspension
New Shocks/Damper units:
New Steering Gear and Linkage (with flexible universal joints):
Next update will be about attaching the front suspension and steering components to the chassis.
Thx for watching and BR, Uli

Re: MFH 911 Carrera RSR Turbo
Simply beautiful, stunning work, Uli! Another master class.
I mean just look at the comparison between kit parts and the scratched parts. It's a world of a difference between them and then again it isn't. Huh What do I mean with that? The kit parts are, for the most part, pretty close to the recreated ones. There are only some differences, but if you look at them they are blindingly obvious. For example the entire linkage looks about as good as you can expect from something that is cast in white metal, proportions for the most part seem to be close to real. Of course you cannot cast something that is made of U-joints and bolts etc. That will come out as it did when cast. So if you decide to remake it from individual parts (and I absolutely love the inventor style exploded view of the parts lined up on their axxis') it will always be better than an all-in-one cast part. So yea, the work on the steering linkage (planning, design, printing, machining) took probably more time than the creation of larger parts of the car at MFH.
You know, "sadly" you are making the parts as you build the kit. I would love to see all of the parts of the kit and all of the parts making up the reengineered parts laid out around the body shell. You all have probably seen these shots of all the car parts layed out around a shell of a car (for restoration projects)... Oh and what I would also love is kind of like a video log. There's one guy on LSP (large scale planes) who now uploads vlogs of what he is doing. I haven't seen them yet (as it is a subscription type service) so I don't know if it starts at the designing, head scratching, building, scrapping, restarting stage or just a video of how it all goes together at a later stage after the trial and error phase for each part has been completed.
In any case, again, this is absolutely stunning. It feels like watching a build of the real car

Re: MFH 911 Carrera RSR Turbo
Hi and thx for your inspiring comments
Todays update is about the assembly and installation of the front suspension, which become the moment of truth if all new designed parts and the remaining MFH parts fit together correctly. A lot of dependencies between geometries, angles, length dimensions and you name it in a 3-dimensional space had to be considered upfront to not get hit by bad surprise later during the assembly process. The most tricky part was to get the camber angle and toe right, a typical challenge when building full detail front suspensions on model cars (at least in my experience). Fortunately there was no bad surprise and everything went perfectly together as planned ... I'm not a big fan of trial and error/Re-work loops
Pre-assembled unit with wishbones, steering gear and anti-roll bar
... and finally everything mounted on the chassis (including steering linkage)
Next is to build the rear suspension and to install the motor in the chassis.
BR, Uli

Re: MFH 911 Carrera RSR Turbo
Uli, that’s simply amazing. Actually, not simply...totally. The entire effect is beautiful...
