1/12th MFH Type 35

Post by daves »

With the State of Hawaii under lock down for the Covid-19 virus. I have a had a little more time on my hands. So what did I do? Start my new MFH kit. This has turned out to me a lot fun and I love the subject. It is a good thing I have a very accurate drill press with adjustable table. There are a ton of holes to drill. Gone thru at least four 1mm drill bits so far. Building the leaf springs was a real challenge. The results were good though.
Time to walk the dogs so I will turn the workshop lights out.

Chassis is looking good Dave, as is the engine and suspension. Pity about the tyres though.

Dave,
Looking very nice there, like the blue colour!
Funny I guess production is at an all time high for most modellers at the moment!
I know what you mean with the drills I always seem to break quite a few on a Hiro kit have started the Toleman Monaco version!
I went for a mountain bike ride this morning no Porsche rides not allowed with the situation, mind you I was lucky last weekend did a run down the coast about 140 miles return trip, and am still amazed at that Porsche feeling!
This week changed the Porsche climate control LCD as mine was leaking all good until I connected the battery and you guessed it the wrong way around upside down so had to do it all again and hey presto it works!
Can't wait to see your progress
Good luck 8)

Since all of Honolulu is now on lock down I have time to work on my old 89 Carrera Cab. Ordered some special hydrating treatment for the leather. Working about three hours a day on the Bugatti.

Cool Dave,
Retro 911 very nice am sure they do some trick gear for the leather seats!
I met a Canadian Woman at our club a while back with a 911 1988 Guards red Targa immaculate condition car almost concours!
Leather food,leather restorer etc!
Swiss Vax pretty good.
Sometimes though and I know it's hassles but removing the seats from the car is better and you can clean underneath them.
Sometimes even a leather cleanser is good!
Went over the garage today to start up my car will have to send you some pics of my Porsche man cave, still have the packaging from
California the rear axle I changed a couple of years back.
Car parts discount in Cali they are great for parts.
My favourite pic at moment is the
917K Gulf colours on opposite lock exiting Druids hairpin at Brands Hatch during the wet at the endurance race I think 1970,bit biased as the circuit is just down the road from me!
Am sure your very productive in the three hours allocated with the Bugatti, how do you find the uploading of pictures etc.
I use imageshack but they seem too small! 8)

Some more progress on the Bug. The chassis is almost done. As is normal with MFH kits, some things just do not fit so they need some tweaking. This model is almost all metal, so it is heavy.
Next is the firewall/dashboard. Then on to the bodywork. I have decided to build it as a gentleman's street racer of the 20's. No numbers and a full bench seat.
