You should be good after a day or two. Just be very light with the clear red. I used Zero paints for my Revell version of this kit and laid down the clear red too heavy so it totally removed the candy red effect. I just sold my Fujimi F2007 because I have way too many kits, but I hope to build it some day with the correct red as it was striking in person.

Thanks for that! I will be careful with how much red I use.

Wow! Not to pat myself on the back too much but the color looks really cool. :) The color changes quite a bit depending on the lighting. I was careful to put just enough clear red as per stubeck's recommendation. It really has that "candy apple" look even though it's a little tough to see in the photos.

The clear red coat turns out very good!

I have the Revell F2007 half made and stop. I was a bit scare about this painting scheme. See yours gives me some confidence to go on and paint the body.

That paint looks so good, it's almost a shame to put decals on it!

I made some more progress but also made a serious mistake. :x

While I was getting ready to mask off the top section of this part of the rear wing I accidentally let the masking tape touch part of a decal and it took it right off! :x I have been soaking the decal + masking tape combo in water hoping the glue on the tape would weaken and release the decal but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm still kicking myself on that one.

If anyone has any other ideas let me know. Or if someone has a spare Bridgestone decal they don't need let me know too! :)

Besides that set-back I did get the exhaust area masked and painted and started on the decals.

It looks absolutely great! :)
Nice candy apple red color. Very convincing.

I did the same thing as you with the decals, applied masking tape on a decal, and then pulled both off.
I was able to however rescue the decal by using a brand new scalpel blade and slicing the decal of the masking tape.
Felt like a surgeon doing that:

Note that you need a brand new scalpel as it needs to be really sharp.

Then it was a matter of using white spirits to remove the masking tape glue from the decal, and reapplying it, using generous amounts of decal setting solution.

Good luck, it looks to become a good model!
