Revell 1/25 Corvette C7R GTLM

Post by aracefan »

Completed this one today. One of 'Merica's best GT race cars to date. :D

1/25 Revell Corvette C7R

Tamiya Acrylics, model master clear
Airbrushed and hand painted.
Didn't have quite the beginners luck with this one that I had with my first model using the AB.
This one I had to strip and re-paint the body, which was a bit nervy.
Overall pleased with how it came out, and consider this one a 5-footer.

Nice that the "glass" comes painted already - didn't know this about Revell

Thanks, guys !!!

This one came out better than expected - especially considering the paint strip and re-shoot. :D
It's a great kit and while not Tamiya fitment quality, still very good.
One tip I can give is on the "glass". The glass is cool that it's already painted for you, but the fitment is really, really tight. Another modeler gave me this tip - I slotted the rear window... and what I mean is, I sawed on either side of the rear window about an inch or so. Giving the rear side glass the ability to flex when installed in the body. And it still is one piece - just with slots on either side of the clear plastic hidden by the body (should've taken a pic of it... )

Anyway, thanks again guys, I do LIKE the way it looks. Looks pretty mean!! :P

It is a very nicely done Corvette!

Revell has move to put black frames on window for new car kits. This is nice and save us a lot of time. I would love it if Revell can standardize to 1/24 scale. They do the new Ford GT in 1/24 but all Corvettes are still 1/25.

Are you using Tamiya X-8 for the yellow body color?

Kit looks great! @CK - We should see kits like this in 1/24 from now on as Revell-Monogram went out of business last year, and has gone over to Revell of Germany. I'm not sure what happened to the US staff, but I suspect new kits won't be in the 1/25 scale. The Ford GT Le mans is a Revell of Germany kit.

Yes sir... it's not really a perfect match, but close and I think it looks good. Good enough anyway.

I'm looking at doing the Ford GT soon'ish - have a few in the back log (I'm sure everyone understands).

Thanks Red!! Appreciate you looking in.

Wish that you could get the #3 car decals as I was really wanting to do both cars - thought that would look cool, having both cars. The Revell kit (this one anyway) only comes with the #4 marking plate... whereas most kits will give you the option to build either car if there are two cars, especially sports cars like these. Oh well, gonna try and grab a Ford GTE car to build to put alongside it.
