Williams FW19 (1:24 Revell)

Post by ron_killings »

Hey guys,

I wanted to show you my latest model. A Williams FW19 in 1:24 scale.
Of course its the Villeneuve car. I built the San Marino version because every other GP version
would have required more corrections.

The kit is quite bad. The overall fit ins't really good. It needed a lot of putty to get it in shape.
The white Decals didn't fit at all so I painted all of the white areas. I didn't like the tires aswell
so I made my own resin copies.
Well, its a 90s Revell kit, I didn't expect anything else.

Painted with Zero Paints white and Rothmans blue

Team: Rothmans Williams Renault
Car: Williams FW19
Driver: Jaques VILLENEUVE
Year: 1997
Version: San Marino GP

Great results out of a bad kit, congratulations! A long time ago I tried to do a 1997 Spanish GP conversion, but found something better to do and left it unfinished in some box.

I think the main problem with this Revell kit is that it looks to be too short, while their Jordan 197 is too long and MP4-12 is too tall, which makes me wonder what's the problem with Revell designers at that time? Bad rulers?

Fantastic result! True, these kits require hard work..... but that's part of the fun, isn't it? I know I love 'em!

Looking good :) . Damn that Onboard Camera is huge, but that's Revell's mistake.

JV winning the Indy 505 was my 2nd Indy to attend so he was my favorite back in his Williams days. Great job on this really difficult kit. So what did you correct with the tires?

Beautiful finish, RK!! Great pics too - but the kit is unbelievable, just a joy to look at. Nice job!

Wow, you said the fit of the kit is rather bad, but you made it look fantastic, can't be any better than that! I think this is the first time I see a kit of the FW19 and I am very impressed, it looks nice. Great work on it, I love it!

Really nice build! :D
You certainly covered all the kit's flaws (I gotta say I don't see it that bad. Shapes are quite correct, the rest can be fixed though it takes skills as the ones showed here  ) and it gives impression of bigger scale.
Really lovely. That was one of those "DAT SEASON" labeled years...
