I would guess the family has zero working knowledge of 1/43.
Somebody needs to make a determination as to whether this collection contains any , rare(ish) , high grade, custom built, etc. or the gentleman was more of a volume guy with mostly “stuff” IMHO.

i would check out grand prix models. in the 1/43 world, i feel they would be the best to price or advise them on how to proceed.

Grand Prix Models sell what they call rarities, these are mainly 1/43rd kits that have gone out of production years ago and that are still in their original boxes etc. They do not sell hand builts other than by the renowned builders such as Stephen Barnett or SMTS. By the look of it the collection is mainly die-cast then I think Ebay is the best way to go.

5000 models collection means minimum $50.000 value assuming that carton and vitrine boxes are missing. The unique way is that the family must do an inventory. On the base of each model they can find type and manufacturer. This one will be very helpful to establish an appoximatie value in the market. We can help with this but an inventory is mandatory

I have checked with www.carmodel.com in Italy but they only buy collections from Italy or within Europe, I guess the shipment and customs fees will make purchases from outside the EU uneconomical.
