Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/3 Targa Florio '70 – MFH 1/43

Post by gtziaf »

My next 1/43 project will be the beautiful Tipo 33/3 from Targa Florio race, back in 1970.
I 'll build the #28 car which droved by Piers Courage and Andrea de Adamich to a dnf, cause an accident.

Kit, from the first inspection, seems to be improved in fine details, from other 1/43 Hiro's kits, like 312PB, which I finished recently.

Here the instructions, if you are not familiar with this type of kit.

So, I make a quick organize, to check the parts...

Targa Florio racers, leave a magic filling to us and hope for an emotional build.

Progress will be starting soon...

All the best.

The preparation work starting to this Tipo33. As usually many holes must be opened, lines must be engraved, parts must bend and then test fit, all of them. This time I include some photos if anyone interest in these works. Also, the real roll bar white metal parts replaced, because this is an important part (rear hood mechanism is on them).

Finally, the first general test fit, show what must do to the next stages.

Hope you like my start. See you in the next one, when I try to overcome the fitting problems.

Hello again from Greece...
The body parts preparation is the main menu, to this one. Some plasticard added, some putty, a lot of "massages" and a little bit effort... :D
Also, a mechanism to open-close the rear cowl made for this one. Many photos follow, which tells the story...

Those 1/43 MFH kits require a lot of work but you’re good at making them stand out. Thanks for the pictures.

Thanks for your support guys.

After I saw some reference photos, I decided to make a correction to rear wing position. MFH solution makes it stay away for the rear cowl, which is not correct. Also, I open the hole in front of the wing.
