Tamiya's would not help... their "2" is of a different era when the numbers were smaller in real world. The problem is that hiding a 1 with a greater 1 is easy, but the 2 is trickier.
Probably Michael Indycals has proper sized number 2.
According my measures (and Protar's) number sohuld be 10.8mm tall

Very nice work. I know what you are talking about with the bad fit of the cowl to the sidepods. The pins of the sidepods don’t line up perfectly with the holes from the cowl. I can be fixed easy.
Best regards,

Very nice, I've got this kit in my stash as well as the MP4/2.
The number decals are too small on that too. I have ordered Tabu decals for both and compared, these are much bigger and the correct size.
I was wondering about the tyres on this kit? As they are the same is the michelins from the 1984 kit. Yours look good, are they the kit tyres?
Also looking forward to their MP42/c that is rumoured.

It looks great! What a shame that you can't get the cowl to fit correctly and had to glue it.

Any photos of your engine compartment before you glued the cowl on?

If your measurement is right, the Tamiya is too small with only 8mm in 1/20, a 1/12 Tamiya 2 is 13mm, too tall. Thought it might be a solution, unfortunately not.
Take a stand!

Yes: the problem is that Tamiya's are from 1990 or 91, numbers were really smaller from 1988 (included) onwards... as happens with Ferraris from 1984.
Honestly, better solution is Michael's:

Hello, your paint job is excellent!!! Very nice build.

I also had problem closing the body cover of this MP4/2B.

BTW, I used this (year 1986) decal set for the M@r!b*r* decal and its #2 appears to be correct (size and color), I just did a measurement, it's about 1.1cm in height which is equivalent to James' measurement.

Well done sir! One of my favorite cars of all time. Too bad you had to hide all of the interior work. Keep 'em coming!
