Tamiya WR1
4 years in the making and just as many trips thru detail hell..
Decals silvered, and left massive amounts of decal solvent on the paint...wont come off, will not clear this brittle plastic,..so
Check the coil over lower 'C' connection to lower the front.
Stuck with it and finally got it done,...until the New set over Decals show up,...
Cheers

Re: Tamiya WR1
Is this 1 12 or 1 20? You might try Tamiya polish on a Qtip for those stains. Just gotta keep fighting sometimes.

Looks good. All those trips through detail hell will make you appreciate it more.

Re: Tamiya WR1
Hi Belugawrx,
I know you've been at this for quite a while, as with most 1:12 projects they don't end up being quick, especially when you go to the lengths of adding extra detail to an already very good kit. I don't see any issues with stains, but then again the real car would not have been perfectly clean and shiny either, so what you are showing here is a fine result.
The work around correcting the front ride height has worked a treat. The stance is just right.
Great looking result overall. What's next?
Cheers, Paul

Re: Tamiya WR1
Hi,
I see some silvering of the decals on the front wing. If you are thinking of replacing them, you can try fixing them first. I have fixed decals silvering by poking pin holes in the silver area and soak it with diluted white glue. If the glue solution gets into the air pocket, it will hold it down and the silvering will disappear.
Have you ever see the real WR-1 when it was displaced in Toronto years ago?

Re: Tamiya WR1
Thanks to all who checked in here. I am waiting on new decals, newer .. better, we shall see..
I tried poking the silvered areas with a pin.. and applying Micro Set, Scary watching them wrinkle up and flatten out, but no joy...
CK I did not see the actual car, but used a walkaround picture file from the museum as a guide.
Cheers all
This one will be back
