1/12 MFH SF71H
Just got this over the break
Will try with Splash Paints and 2K clear as an experiment
Here are some early pics
And from all my complaints about white metal body inserts, this time the main resin insert on nose was a bad fit, too big and needed some serious sanding
Compared to F2008 this should be a breeze to polish up except for front wing which will be a nightmare
Someone please make some templated CF decals

Re: 1/12 MFH SF71H
I'm excited how you manage this kit, cause it is in my MFH stock but the 640 and the 643 are my next projects in the pipeline.

Re: 1/12 MFH SF71H
Some other parts, assembling to ease paint, but since this kit is basically 10 different types of carbon fiber and the red, I am not going to assemble al parts together
Here is the front wing with dabs of super glue only to paint
Nose will be left as one piece
Winglets are left as separate to paint red to
Although kit instructions say to integrate the side pieces, it’s almost impossible due to all the CF under neath them in the main body piece, the halo Durant need to be integrated as the on the main car it’s git separation lines
Integrated these pieces, they are also all CF, but will display this with wheels on so likely will not fully CF
More to come
Using Tamiya pink primer to prime
Wiill use Splash Paints fur this car to paint - soon
CF, may use every brand I have and the included square patterned paint thru decals
I have pulled a lot of reference pics and the CF patterns are extreme on this car

Whilst I'm not a fan of this generation of cars I always enjoy following your work so I will be watching this build with great interest.
Re: 1/12 MFH SF71H
This will be a hard job with all these tiny barge boards or lets call it "wings"!
Take a stand!

Re: 1/12 MFH SF71H
Update from the preparation and painting process
Front wing
White metal and PE attached
Other parts with ancillaries added
Body primed again and smoothed
Other parts to be red
And then all the parts to get varying CF decals and spray through
Parts to be painted flat black per a lot of references I’ve pulled

Looks great, very clean work. Have fun with all the carbon fiber decalling!
