Nelson Piquet 66 Today

Post by Starr »

Hi all,

Today, August 17, is the birthday of the great Brazilian driver Nelson Piquet, 3 times Formula 1 World Champion and one of the best of his generation.

To Celebrate his birthday, I am posting this.

Long live, Champion!

I know that season was probably his worst, but it is the only Piquet car I have that is worth to be shown.
Happy birthday, Nelson!

Excellent job, Steffen! Is it a Tamiya and Studio27 conversion? I have that on my stash for a future build.

Thanks for join me in this humble homage to the great Nelson Piquet.

Cheers,

Nice, I like that 100T Starr! Is that the Gunze Sangyo kit or the one from Wave?

Hi Martinpesce, I forgot to mention on my first post. The 100T is the Gunze Sangyo "motorized" 1/24 scale kit. A good kit to tackle when you are not in the mood to do something more demanding.

Hi Shiiya, you have two excellent models there, well done! I have both on my stash to be build someday when I improve my skills a little more. Also, it's on my way a Studio27 transkit to make the FW11B, Italian GP.

Thanks again for join me.

Cheers,

These are my Piquet's rides from my collection.
Both BT-49 and BT-52B are conversions from BT-50 Tamiya kits.
The Lotus 100 is a conversion from Tamiya's Lotus 99.

My kits are stored here: All F1s are 1/20.

I am actually Nelson's neighbour, in Brasilia, DF, Brazil. I have met him twice when cycling around our neighbourhood. 8)

The Bt-52b is a conversion from the Tamiya Bt50? That is one heck of a conversion! Also, didn't Nelson win a couple of races for Benetton in the B189/B190 era?

Hi Marcelo,

Thanks for share your collection of Piquet's cars in scale. They look awesome!

Wow! Are you Piquet's neighbor? Lucky man you are!

I would like to thank everyone who reply and contributed with this homage to Nelson Piquet.

Hi Tubegenius,

Piquet did race with the B189B at the 2 first Grand Prix of 1990, finishing 4th and 6th. After those 2 races, he started to use the B190 car and he won the last 2 races of that season in Japan (with his team mate Moreno in second place) and Australia. He finished 3rd in the drivers championship.

For the 1991 and his final F1 season, he started with the B190B, moving to the B191 car after the 3 first races. With the B191 car, he won for the last time in Canada when Mansel, with almost a lap ahead, failed to bring his car to the finish line.

Starr
