Re: Officially Lost My Mind: Merit 1/24 Connaught Type B
We're really getting somewhere now.
I was worried about the carburetor/intake setup. It's one piece and chunky. I did some sanding and cleaning up and it turned out to be a nice part. I used an exact blade to score what would be the intake mesh. Here it is after paint and wash.
And with it in place. I think it came out decent, especially with the shroud shading part of it. The windscreen has also been attached.
As you could see in the previous picture, I have finished the exhaust. The kit has an ugly and chubby tab connecting the rear of the exhaust to the bodywork. It cut it off and replaced with a piece of solder that wraps around and slides into two hole I drilled into the body. I also added a few beads of superglue to mimic weld marks. I painted the exhaust TS-42 gunmetal from the can.
I finally got around to the wheels. I brush painted them with Vallejo acrylics. I just moved across the country and don't have an airbrush with me. I'm going to add a light wash before attaching them to the car.
It's getting close. I'm waiting on an order from IndyCals, then I can finish painting the nose. apart from that, I just need to attach the wheels and mirrors, and that's all the major stuff.

Getting oh so close.
Wheels and mirrors on.
All that's left is getting the number decal on as soon as I get it in the mail. Look for it in completed projects soon!
