AMT 1/25 Lola T-8800 Arie Luyendyk
Hi everyone,
Here is my latest finished work, and possibly the most frustrating. This is Arie Luyendyk's Provimi Veal Lola T-8800 from the 1988 Indy 500. The Provimi scheme is one of my all time favorites. Sadly, the kit was pretty awful. Nothing fit and details were soft at best. I ended up making the kit curbside to make the build end quicker! I used Alclad gloss black base for the paint. The kit decals were used and terrible. I really should've used Indycals on this one. In the end, I'm reasonably happy with how it all turned out. I wish I had built this before I bought a half dozen of these AMT Indycar kits!
As always, comments and critiques are welcome.
Thanks,
Jake

Come on, the result is not bad. Don't be that hard with the kit and yourself
Anyway, if you have regrets on having fought amt's Indycars, please pm me to see if I can find them a new home

Hi Jake,
Your CART turns out to be pretty good!
The AMT CART series is a series with normal AMT quality of the 80's. The panel lines are large and lines are a bit soft. There are some fit problems as these moulds were hand cut not the NC machine cuts like Tamiya.
The Revell-Monogram CART cars of the 90's are better even they lack the engine.

Always a pleasure to see another IndyCar here. I've got this kit in my stash and appreciate the heads-up on using Indycal decals. Anything but a curbside build seems like an exercise in frustration with most of these kits.
