Protar MP4-2C

Post by mazyen »

Greetings to everyone,

I've got this metal 1:12 Protar in 1994 & finally decided to get it done after viewing all the great builds of the MP4-2C by you guys. However as you can see from the photos, I've got a few problems & have abandoned the build.
Firstly, the Picaso inspired radiators & front air intake scoops. These are so distorted that I've got to saw them in sections before they can fit.
Secondly, the tires.
I wonder whether you have any suggestions on how to scratch build another set of radiators & also where can I get another set of tires?

Cheers

OMG!!! What a collection of warped stuff!!!!
So, what's metal here? Chassis? engine, both??
I have the plastic versions, and I am on them ;-) At least even if radiators look as upscaled versions of the already-not-awesome samples at 1/24, they are not deformed, in DAly style I'd rather say...
Well, about wheels I have good news for you. You have a pm.
regards
James

The Wheels from James are perfect.
I also got the metal version, but sold it and bought a plastic version.
Too much work on those white metal parts.

Thanks!!! :D positive public feedback always welcome and thanked!!! :D

Yes, the treat seems to be switching versions, but given the rarity, Y understand it's not easy. Good lord, all that mass in WM, how heavy can it be!!!!

Heavy. I have the plastic one and metal one also, 1 each. The metal one weighs easily over 2 kilos based on my estimation. The metal for the tub is at least thin-walled, but still heavier than the plastic tub by a mile.

I have James' wheels/tires for this car and they are great. Solid resin, no distortion under load and no rubber/vinyl cracking to worry about. They are the best option to hold that built kit weight in my opinion.

Picasso-style - great way to explain that. Looks like at some point that kit box was exposed to some heat that warped the plastic as I think I do not have that problem with mine. But I'm going to go check them now!

Wow, the radiators not only look like they are from Dali, Colani himself created them! :D
A lot of work to be done on them to make them "straight"!
Protar kits are realy special in any way, a lot of work to become a real beauty!
Will follow this with interest, i past a few oppertunities to get one, but maybe one day i`m happy as you to get one :)
Take a stand!
