Hi again,
this time I post a little WIP of the tamiya 79 that I built using the livery of Hector Rebaque's one. When I saw that livery with that brown color, I thought I would like to have one in my collection and when I saw the tabu decals I couldn't wait to build mine.
I didn't make any conversion on the body, there's a really great conversion here on the forum,I simply wanted to have the lotus 79 with that livery.
As I was building the martini version at the same time, I decided to detail the engine and show the car opened.
The color used on the car was the zero rebaque's brown over tamiya white primer. I also sprayed two mist coats of TS-13 over the brown to prevent silvering when the decals were applied. As you will see in the pictures I had a really big problem when I airbrushed the zero 2K clearcoat.... It was the first time I was using 2K and as it asks to be careful with percentages, I used clinical syringes to mix the components. But I didn't consider that the plungers of the syringes are built of silicone..... So the silicone reacted with 2K and began appearing "craters" on the surface!!!
So I had to sand all the surface -trying to don't reach the decals- and then I mixed the 2k components using plastic pipettes and airbrushed a wet coat. The result was quite acceptable, but when I tried to sand it to achieve the gloss finish, the "craters" were visible again! So, I decided to sand all the parts again and airbrush a new wet coat of 2K and don't sand it anymore. Finally it worked!
The car is very nice on this livery, and I'm happy with the result!
Sorry for my poor english and also for the quality of the pictures.....
As always, in my blog there are some more pictures....

best regards to all!!!

Re: Tamiya Lotus 79 Rebaque
Great looking model Ziggy and a well deserved save on the clear coat as well. When I first saw the crater image I thought I was looking at the moon Your perseverance paid off with the clear coat so well done and thanks for posting.
