Hi,
I am thinking to buy S27 Alpine A442 decals (Bendix and Renault) to use in Alpine A442B Tamiya.
The kit is B version and the decals I suppose to be A version, so do I have to modify the kit?
I mean:
1 - Is there any external difference between versions A and B?
2 - S27 decals is effectively for A version A? The information in the package is generic, only A442...
Thank you

Re: Alpine A442 doubt
Hi
There are lots of differences between the '1977' version to be used for a A442A. Most is centered around the cockpit surround which is very different with visible rollcage tubing left and right. Different NACA ducts on the rear bodywork and no scoops on the rearwing supports just to name those I remember. It doesn't help to look at pictures from the race as the Bendix car burned early in the race! But look at the Calberson car from the 1978 race should give an indication of the changes required to make a 100% conversion.

Re: Alpine A442 doubt
Hi,
You're absolutely right Flemming.
Please , allow me firstly to focus what you say on your picture as follow , and secondly add 2 points :
the front cowling is shorter in '77 , having a look here : http://www.flickr.com/photos/matt31112/ ... otostream/
then comparing to the '78 cars , you'll see immediatly the differences of length;
the shape of the sides is round on the A version , of '77 , and on cars 3 and 4 of '78.
By my side , searching the correct size of the NACAs , I've found that the NACA on the Sauber C9 has exactly the size necessary for the A442
More details will be seen on this topic :
