Converting F3000 to F1?
I recently got Hasegawa´s Reynard 89D at a price i could not resist.
I thought there might be some conversion to late 80s or early 90s F1 possible.
Any of you ever thought about it? Any suggestions? I´m curious.
This is the kit:

hello,
F3000 were way to small, wings, tires, sidepods, suspension arms...
If you want to convert this F3000 into a F1 , you would have so so much work ... (my 2¢ worth)

Yes. nothing fits. Just think it's a different thing and will look interesting besides F1 exactly to show the differences.
Look for a good livery. The Camel used by Alesi is really nice, a winner and easy.

Ahhh, remember the days when you could adapt a 3000 to run in F1. If I remember correctly the first Leyton House March was a 3000 car with mods to make it eligible. Sadly for your project it was a 3000 March tho and not a Reynard. Happy days.
I agree that the Jordan Reynard of Alesi/Donnelly looked fantastic. Could even be updated for the 90 car as run by Irvine/Frentzen maybe?

+1
I don't know why you would want to torture yourself, with such a conversion..!
joseapetit: that's a cool photo, of three different genres for comparison!

It´s not about torture at all. I didn´t knew that F1 and F3000 have such different dimensions.
I remembered that March from 1987, too and thought one of those many F1 specialists around here would know a doable conversion at once.

If you really want to do something different, there's always this. It's the stillborn Reynard F1 project for 1989. Just add some Hase 89-90 F1 tyres and "voilá". Unfortunately, it's the only picture I have.
I think it's possibe, with a lot of effort, to convert the Reynard to the Coloni C3, but even for that it's a lot of changes, and all of that for a rear-of-the-grid Coloni...

stillborn F1s , we should create a topic for that !!!
Re: Converting F3000 to F1?
Oh, there was already a thread for stillborns!
Well, there were a number of "Damn we gotta debut with this" efforts, but it's a nice kit and deserves to be done as is, I'd say.
Go ahead!
