Re: Wher are the "old school" guys ?
I hope I can be considered an "old school" guy.
I'm still around but mostly just look at the forum.
Becaus of family matters and 2 children in the last 4 years, I've not been able to build a lot, at all. And since moving to a new home some mounths ago I haven't got a decent modelroom layout either. Still looking around for a new, and purpose built cabinet, to display the cars and finnish my part of the attic I cann't do anything at the moment. I have something planned and hope to ahve the cabinet within a 1 or 2 mounths.
Asap I have something to show about me modelroom I'll post it.
Thanks Eric for keeping it alive dispide all the problems there have been.
And not to worrie, as long as the site will be around I will be so too.

Re: Wher are the "old school" guys ?
I don't think I'm "Old School" but I've been here a while.
I would post more often but, since the new forum and its related issues, it logs me off every few minutes and errors when I try to post. This is the only forum that does this to me, both at my work and home PCs. It's quite frustrating so I'm sitting back and letting the dust settle.
Working on a Tamiya Escort at the moment, if the forum will allow me I'll get some completed shots up soon.

Right here where you left us A !
Deep in the midst of a M/C project at the moment but still monitoring all the forum hoo-ha. Revised format complete with clipped photos is a real pain. Not looking forward to (attempting?) photo uploads.
Cheers,

Not sure what defines “old school” – However I haven’t been visiting the site as much since baby Harry was born in Jan... not least because the model building room became a bedroom!
I have the Tyrrell conversion on the bench along with 2 Yamaha Motogp bikes – all at about 75% completion.
Having logged in a couple times in the last week, I feel the mojo coming back & will look to spray some paint again & post a couple updates... making the final push to the finish line & maybe get onto a new kit!

Re: Wher are the "old school" guys ?
Hi,
I've been a member here for more than 5 and a half year. I start browsing this site long before that. I don't post frequent as I have not have a lot of time to build my F1 models. Actually I don't much have time to build any of my models these days. I have two little boys at 5 and 3 and a very demanding day job.
I was a bit sad when Eric said he might have to close the forum down. Luckily, it is still here. It is still a place that I visit almost every day.
Hope this forum will go on and on like the "Energ..." bunny!

Re: Wher are the "old school" guys ?
Hello:
I look at the website just about everyday but I guess it's probably the economy, summer time (which down here in south Texas means about 100+ degree Farenheit days June through August) as to why the site is not the same as it used to be. I've been primarily an observer and like to read the work in progress stuff here and stay away from the personal/petty quarreling bs.
Another reason may have to do with the mix media kits themselves. I used to buy the 1/20 resin kits on a regular basis and if I didn't like the quality I'd sell them right away without losing too much money. Now, with the kits approaching US$375, if you buy it, it's yours. And you'll never get your original money that you spend back. The last kit I bought was a Lotus 77 about 2 years ago that a fellow member had to unload for a low price and that was at a hobby show in Houston. The bright side is, even if you only build the 1/20 or 1/12 F1 Tamiya cars and detail them, you'll have one hell of a f1 collection on your shelf.
Still, I hope the site sticks around for yet another while. It's really a great site for F1 followers.

Morning Ya'll
Gotta say all are great points but I really agree with the economy being a problem in my case. I now work 10 to 12 hours a day (most of it out in the Texas heat...which is headed to setting a record for the hottest summer on record) just to try and make ends meet. I get home and shower and heading to the man cave is the last thing I want to do. Don't know that I qualify as one of the old school but I do know as a kid I used to laugh at my Dad when he came home from work and fell asleep in his easy chair. I am now my Dad and falling asleep in my chair is what I do rather than modeling...after I check F1M.
Oh yeah, I did make it down to see the Red Bull car at Austin Infiniti on Thursday. I can't believe my cow town is jet setting now!

Okay I hate this global warming bull.... thats official! In Denmark we have had a 'summer' that is in the top 10 of the wettest ever - and just a few days above 25 C since 1. of June. Due to global warming naturally! It is no matter how the weather behaves by the way - wet, dry, hot, cold, windy... it is all due to global warming... Fine for modelling though...waxdart wrote:Morning Ya'll
