After Buick withdrew from Winston Cup racing following the 1991 season, team owner Kenny Bernstein's King Racing switched to Ford Thunderbirds for 1992. Driver Brett Bodine scored two top fives and thirteen top tens in 29 starts.
I started this build last year at the same time as my Hooters T-bird. What you see is a less detailed version of that car. The paint is Krylon Gloss White and Tamiya X-28 Park Green acrylic topped with Duplicolor acrylic lacquer clear. After that cured, the body was polished and waxed.
The most time consuming part of this build was sourcing and then applying the decals. Almost all of the contingencies were added one at a time. FUN! The numbers and main sponsor graphics are Slixx and Fred Cady, respectively.
This is one of my favorite cars from the '92 season and I'm glad I finally have a replica of it.
Thank you for looking,
G

Re: 1992 Quaker State Ford Thunderbird
It is good to see one of the classic roundy rounds done here...........I happen to be a Ford man too and a fan of the Bodines as well. Really clean and great attention to detail. You are correct, to do a NASCAR justice, you apply decals 1 @ a time w/as much of the carrier cut away as possible. I hope to see that Hooters as well posted. Thanks for sharing this.

What a fab build, we don't see many completed Nascar kits this side of the pond, so thanks for posting.
