Pics: Model Expo - Melbourne, Australia
It's Model Expo time again
Unfortunately the number of car builds was low, but there was plenty to see as usual
Southern Cross Miniatures had a stand with some built models on display
Superbly built and displayed SCM 1/20 W125
Beautiful Trumpeter 1/12 GT40 on display at SCM's stand
f1m member Shunter brought his two beautiful Indy Lola's:
1/48 Henschel HS129 tankbuster, with one spinning propeller
well-executed weathered winter camouflage on 1/48 Heinkel HE111
Tamiya 1/48 Heinkel HE219 nightfighter
made in Japan
war is hell
super neat & clean 1/43 AC Cobra from f1m member TonyM
Focke-Agchelis rotor kite - this was tethered to a U-boat, and the airflow of the moving U-boat would cause the rotors to turn, lifting the pilot/observer 120 metres up in the air. If the U-boat was spotted and had to dive suddenly, the pilot would cut the rope and drop into the sea, either to be captured, or rescued later on when the U-boat returned...
1/350 Type IX U-boat from f1m member TonyM. The paintjob is very skillful, subtle weathering - the photo doesn't do it justice.
Biber mini U-boat, carried 1 crewman only
1/700 Type VII U-boat in dry dock
1/32 X15 looks fast even when standing still. I was surprised how big it was, I always thought it was a tiny plane.
1/32 F18
1/32 Tamiya Phantom, superb paint job
Trumpeter 1/32 Sukhoi SU27 Flanker is huge
Aster 1/30 Japanese Rail D51 rail loco - fantastic metal model, weighs 8 kilos and is fully functional, with methyl-alcohol fuelled steam engine. Retail Price for this kit was an eye-watering 585,000 Yen.
Mechanical Robo-elephant
...piloted by an elephant of course...
biiig Hong Kong Models 1/32 B17
Pacific Coast 1/32 Hawker Tempest
Paper ships
Paper cars
Protar 1/9 MV Agusta
Beautifully done food truck
tank-devouring monster slug
best buddies
another excellent contribution from f1m member Shunter in the Out Of Box class
Beautiful Tamiya 1/24 Ferrari FXXK
Started in 2009, the March 881 finally makes it to Expo!
MG Models 1/20 Ferrari 553
plenty to see and buy
nice club display
1/48 Mig 29, A6 Intruder in the background
Revell 1/24 McLaren MP4/25
Revell 1/24 Mercedes W01

Amazing models. Seeing all those planes and ships and submarines makes me want to grab a few of those
