Completed: 1/12th Tamiya Renault RE-20 Turbo
Here it is finished. A great example of Tamiya at the height of its powers in the early 80s. I remember looking at this in the 1980(?) catalogue all broken down in to parts and thinking I’d never be able to build the 1/12th series.
Well this isn’t the first I’ve done (far from it), but it is amongst the most complex. Some of the build was really tricky, and I made a few mistakes, but the photos hide (most of) those…
Straight out of the (1990 issue) box, I just added the p/e and some new decals from the recent reissue. Painted with all Tamiya paints.
I just need somewhere to put it now!

Looks just about perfect to me! Great build, if you can't find space I'd be glad to take it off your hands for my collection LOL

Yep,timeless beauty ! You have done it much justice ..It shows, again, how SUPERB Tamiya was in those days.Keeping in mind that most of there 1/12 kits are more than 35 years old they are still the standard.I know MFH is there now but I am always glad to build plastic again..If only Tamiya would release new 1/12 F1 again..If only..
That stated,again WELL done,
Alex.

Great job and terrific looking model!
I've always loved the agressively powerful looks of that car. I bought that kit when it was first released in 1980, but ended up selling it years later to get the money to buy a DVD burner for the computer... Maybe I'll get another chance at some point.

Looks fantastic. What TS spray did you use for the yellow.

Great looking car! I have one of these in my stack too, but have yet to get to it. The decaling/painting looks tricky for sure. What were some of the bits that gave you trouble? Might save me some down the road...
