I suppose cut with a plastic saw, and add back with a strip of (1.4mm gauge) plastic paper to the cut, to replace what was turned to sawdust? I've done that successfully before.Jimmy wrote:Eric ... I'm looking for a way to take out the least amount of plastic possible in order to get a good fit later.

I used a Tamiya panelscriber. You're Always gonna lose some plastic but that's easy replaced with some small plasticstrip.Jimmy wrote:Eric,
What did you use to separate the engine cowling from the from the front portion?

Re: Williams FW 07 "Dutch GP '79"Tamiya 1/20
I've found a picture of the Williams during the Dutch Grand Prix. Corresct me if I'm wrong...but it looks the enginecovermesh is sprayed white...???
As I'm totaly unknown to the decalmaking I hope someone could or will help me with the decals shown on this picture. I have Dutch Docu on the '79 Dutch Grand Prix and also there the decals are on the Williams.
Thanks in advance
Eric

I know for sure that that picture was taken during the Friday practice. During this practice it was very wet. Don't know if the meshcovers were white during the Grand Prix though...

Today I came a long way in making the underfearings of the cowling. I made them out EG-Plastic and formed with Tamiya 2K Putty, sanded and trimmed with the Dremel.
First I taped the upper cowling to the monocoque and glued the plasticcard underneath the uppercowling and let it harden completely.
Then put the Tamiya 2K Putty on and let it harden.
The underfearings almost done. I need to trim the underfearings to the cowling. I will use plasticstrip (EG) to just that.
Also worked on the rollbar. For the Dutch Grand Prix Jones had an extra piece welded on top of the rollbar.

Hey Eric,
You can see clearly that it is a "cloth "cover..and not painted. Also it was only used in Holland..Maybe as a test ?
