I note the pins you've inserted for the side pods to obviously connect them to the chassis. Is your intention to make the side pods removable?

I don't know yet. Maybe I'll do one side or maybe both side-pods will be glued. It depends on how close all bodyparts will fit.

I will follow with interest as I built this in 2012 and also depicting the Dutch GP, but I only cut off the engine cover from the main cowling and not all the modifications you are doing.

I did not have many reference photos but the main differences with the Dutch version are:

1. Cam covers have 'Ford' on them instead of 'Cosworth'.
2. The roll hoop has a 2nd smaller hoop on top of the main one.
3. The 'Encotrade' logos are on the chrome louvres which are in front of the air out takes, and not on the upper surface at the front of the side pods as in other races. I had to very carefully cut each end of the kit decals otherwise they are too big for the louvres.
4. The rear wing support is black with a chrome frontage (I think the instructions tell you to paint the whole support silver).


I am sure you will be aware of these differences but thought I would point out just in case.

I hear what you're saying. Getting a snug fit is the challenge, and sometimes kits don't want to comply no matter how much effort is put in. (I'm speaking from experience here )

What did you use to separate the engine cowling from the from the front portion? I'm looking for a way to take out the least amount of plastic possible in order to get a good fit later.
