Lotus 98 carbon fibre color?
I have been researching photos of the Lotus 98 ( and earlier cars) trying to determine which color carbon fibre they used and I can't decide if I am seeing pewter that is reflecting a bronzish hew or if I am actually seeing bronze. Has anyone seen this in person and can tell me which I am seeing?

No, this one. The one Senna nipped Mansell with in Spain 1986. Notice both the front and rear wing have a bronze hew to them.....because they're carbon fibre. The question is whether the carbon fibre is bronze or pewter ( with the hew coming from reflecting the sun).
Re: Lotus 98 carbon fibre color?
As always with carbon fiber looks that's a difficult answer, because they change with light.
I've seen the car live but "remembering" color is not a thing.
Looking at pictures I would say the front and rear wings and the internal sidepod structures have a yellowish look to them ( unlike the monocoque that's built up differntly ) that comes from ageing resin. Whenever I build my kit I'll put a layer of thinned transparent yellow over grey CF decals and not use gold/pewter decals for these parts.

I used an oil rubbed bronze spray under the clear CF decals that MFH included in their 1/12 kit

Wow, sorry I missed something. As I look at the perfect picture of the front wing in Komakais Lotus 97 book, i'm going with pewter. Maybe a lite coat of smoke. Spoon test that to see if I like it or not.
