Re: Doubt about Williams FW11B - Color

I'm sorry but I have serious doubts about the 'white on black' scheme. I find several pictures even in 'motorsport-links' from MEX, JAP and AUS where the scheme clearly appears to be white on (dark)blue for sure. I think it's a matter of sun position, angle of the car vs. photographer and general light conditions. And mind you, in '88 and '89 Williams definately used white on blue...

Cheers,
Richard

Those last 3 races are clearly blue, even with my fading eyes. The only ones that look remotely black are from the pits in Australia and only because there's a shadow over them. They are blue.

While I have no doubt that blue was used in some races...

This one is from 1987 Australia GP. You can compare the ICI logo with the black items - Steering wheel, rev counter, antenna, Tactel logo.

Hi all,

For alls attention, take a look back on page 1 of this thread to image links posted by GF-F1. You will see the black background circle of the ICI logos clearly relate to Indycals FW11b decal sheet as being true and relevant to the races in Mexico, Japan and Australia. :D

No, that's already clear :D the hot question is if, in those races, it's black or "very dark blue" . I'd say black. But I also thought 1981 and Williams logos/numbers to be black, and it has been hard (better pics have emerged) to find a pic where you clearly saw the green. As it was.
Not sure, my POV is that if most of pics it looks black then let's go with black...
For instance:

One good thing of focusing the search on Patrese is that you get many fewer unuseful (read "other gp") results :D

I don't see the slightest blue hue here...

and even one more:

Be sure to right-click "view image" on the pics to see them at full resolution and size, they are fortunately huge.

I do not know if it helps, but I have found these two pictures of Patrese during the 1987 Australian GP.
Looking at the photos I really do not know if the ICI logo has a black background or a very very dark blue one. Hard to say!

You can click on them for enlargement.

I'd say "black is black" . Not even where there's a flash of sunlight yo see minimal blue saturation at least to my eyes.
