1982 Tyrrell 011 Austria
Hi all. Have recently purchased the Studio 27 kit of this car. Was wondering if anyone has any detailed photos of rear end and any with the bodywork removed they could post please. Or links to any websites I can't find. TIA.

Check out the gurneyflap site. There is a 011 on both page 1 and 2

Yes, but fantastic as they are, gurneyflap pics are almost all of restored cars.
Will look my pair of books and mostly GPI.
And again I recommend everyone, when they see GPI mags on sale, grab em!

Yes you are right but searching info for old cars can be a puzzle. One find old pictures but sometimes not clear enough but gives you a clue if that part has been changed on the restored car where the picture perhaps are clearer.
I have separated the modern pictures in a separate folder and this one is not my first choice when I am searching for information.

You are absolutely right what is a blurred suspect on a vintage pic (oh lord, we're talking almost 4o yeras ago!! ) can become a confirmation on G'flap, when you see "what was that" when parts are still the same.Orso wrote:Yes you are right but searching info for old cars can be a puzzle. Try this. This is the variation you are after.
There where many variations and mods to the Tyrrells throughout the year - finding the engine/backend details for the Austrian variant might be trickier still. GPI mags are an excellent source. MFH/Joe Honda books are also excellent - not sure if they have published a 1982 reference book yet.

(this is detroit GP but may help)

If you look at these photos from Austria 82, you can see how Micheles car has a red flash on the front and the top of the sidepods have extra cooling. Not sure what is going on here. Different days, different chassis??? Do these match your kit?
Just highlights how difficult it can be to nail down the right stuff.
Good luck. Look forward to seeing the end result.

More pics.
I haven't found yet my late 82 GPI's. Maybe later.
Meanwhile:
Early season (white chassis), rear suspension and exhausts was changed a bit after French GP, so wait...
Later in the season...
And yes that's Austria. I suspect the nose red spot was used in the race, we might confirm later.
And that's from Monaco... same suspension as top pic.

WOW! this is pure gold!!

And YES, RED NOSE TIP for the race.

Well got it done...not my finest work but a surprisingly tricky kit of a relatively simple car. Didn't want a shiny finish as the car wasn't anyway! My fingers and eyesight aren't as dexterous as they were...I'm jealous of all you super detaillers on here but I do it for the enjoyment!
