1984 Joest NEWMAN 956 Nurburgring
1984 Joest NEWMAN 956 Nurburgring
I am a huge Senna fan. Was my childhood racing hero, and to me still the best driver ever seen in Formula 1. Anyway, I recently acquired the 1/24 Tamiya Porsche 956, and want to convert it to the Senna version driven at the Nurburgring. Now I know the Le Mans version is different from the Nurburgring version but is it that noticeable? Is there anyone that has converted this kit just with decals or would you just recommend finding a short tail conversion and go from there?

I am no expert for this car, but for me it seems you will need a short tail and a 962 style nose.
Here are two pictures of that car:

The conversion to the Porsche 956 short tail is feasible. You can have some pictures of the conversion from me. Or you can get a conversion kit from Studio27. Here is a modified Tamiya 956 model by me.

Here is a resin set to convert the Tamiya 956 Le Mans long-tail to the short-tail used on the Senna car:
https://hobbitime.myshopify.com/collect ... amiya-kits. Calvin provides great service and is highly recommended.
A tip when on the HobbiTime product pages using a computer (instead of a a mobile device): Click a thumbnail image to show larger view, then right-click the larger image and select command to "open the image in a new tab" to open full size version of that image.
And Calvin also shows how to use his conversion set:

Looks great. What was the process you used to convert?Gruppecfan wrote:The conversion to the Porsche 956 short tail is feasible. You can have some pictures of the conversion from me. Or you can get a conversion kit from Studio27. Here is a modified Tamiya 956 model by me.

Could you be more specific on why the nose is wrong?Gruppecfan wrote:@ flashman

The short tails also had stubby noses. In the S27 transkit, you get the rear deck and a nose. You have to cut the nose off the donor kit. The bigger problem - to me - is the vac form headlight covers.flashman wrote:Could you be more specific on why the nose is wrong?Gruppecfan wrote:@ flashman
