I am wanting to put a yellow tint on the clear pieces that are the headlight covers. I have tried a few different things with tamiya clear yellow so far , but its just not quite right.
The colour is OK for me but i am getting a build up of colour at the edges. Could anyone offer their advice on this please.
Thanks Wayne

Headlight Painting question

Re: Headlight Painting question
Are you dipping in the clear yellow or brush painting it? If so, maybe that's what is causing the edge buildup, although I've never tried that myself so I'm guessing.
If you airbrush thinned layers down, maybe 1-2 passes, would that aerosol form paint lay down more evenly? Scratching my head here.
Best,
AJ

I first did brushing , then air brush with thinned clear yellow.

No ideas then. That would be my approach, and if it's pooling at the edges I'm at a loss for a better idea....

Hi Wayne,
Try some Hasegawa Trytool clear yellow sticker. It’s great stuff and super easy to use and trim...If you can find some??

Re: Headlight Painting question
Tamiya acrylic clear yellow thined with lacquer thinner will do the job. It can be thicker than your usual thinning ratio

Color the clear plastic with the permanent marker of your choice, depending on color.
I.E., yellow Sharpie. Or maybe a yellow highlighter color. I have not done this, but it might work well.
I always color my clear plastic tail lights, etc., with sharpies.
