Sorry if anyone's asked this before, but I'd like to know if any of you fellow modeller has ever boarded a plane with those small jars of Tamiya 10ml X or XF paints, either as hand luggage or checked-in. I have already sent two e-mails to Lufthansa but never got a reply from them.
I searched on Google and found an old thread where some users were able to bring them on board, but that was in the US, I will be flying from Hong Kong to Italy.
Anyone's experience on this would be appreciated.
Thanks
Anyone brought Tamiya small paint bottles on the plane?

I bought some paint in Telford this year and some years back and both times flew back to Holland. I think the previous time I also bought some Tamiya paint, this year at least some other brands (Splash paint for sure, some others as well). Never had any problems. All were brought as checked in luggage.
A friend of mine took some modelling stuff, Tamiya paint as well over to Singapore with (as far as I know) no problems.

Call the airline.
I have called my airline before to see about acrylic paints and have always been given the green light. I have always checked it though as liquids in the States are heavily restricted for carry ons.

Check it in your bag and you should be fine, just don’t carry it on. They will make you throw it away, if they see it. Assume they will see it.

Put in two (or three) zip lock bags. Do I need to explain why?!

I've been able to check them on domestic (US) flights on Delta with no issue. I double bag them and then label them with "Acrylic Paints" just in case they open the bag up.

Same I usually put "Non flammable Acrylic Paint" on it just in case they do not know what paints are or are not flammable. In cases in the US, TSA agents are given the latitude to make the pass/fail determination, regardless of the regulations.whatisdeletrazdoing wrote:label them with "Acrylic Paints" just in case they open the bag up.

Thanks for the answers everyone, really glad to hear that none of you had troubles at the airport. I didn't mention it but of course my plan is to chech them in with my luggage and store them in a couple of zip bags and maybe in a metal case too.
I might label them as "Acrylic Paint" but I won't write or indicate anywhere that they are not flammable, the label on the jar says otherwise:Indy1977TX wrote:Same I usually put "Non flammable Acrylic Paint" on it just in case they do not know what paints are or are not flammable......whatisdeletrazdoing wrote:label them with "Acrylic Paints" just in case they open the bag up.
