Question to owners of a 1/20 MFH 126C4 kit -Burago 126C4 mod

Hi all,

after having found an old Burago Ferrari 126C4 in the basement, I am considering the possibilty to convert it into a decent modell using parts of a Fujimi 126C2.
Despite most of the sizes of the Bburago seem to be 1/20 I have a few doubts about the height of the car. Placed next to any 1/20 modell I have, it seems to be way too low.
Could an owner of a MFH 126C4 in 1/20 scale please help me measuring these sizes?





a - nose width
b - cockpit width
c - nose length
d - length of nose to thecockpit front
e - length of nose to the end of the enginecower
f - height of base to the roll bar
g - height base to top of the fuel tank
h - height base to the cockpit front
i - height base to the cockpit side
j - nose height
k - height base to the rear wing connection (outside)
l - length of the side pod

Bold sizes are those I doubt to be right. The others are there to verify the sizes which I think are 1/20.
This could turn out to be a fun project if I somehow can get the Fujimi C2 engine inside the C4.

Well, it smells like millimeters
If so, then Burago apparently nailed it! Just the nose (cone) is a bit shorter than MFH's.
Rest, specially the more under suspicion, are more than OK.
Thanks Steve! I have one dubt: L, 28.5mm is way too short, maybe you measured from front of sidepod to front edge of radiator?

Well spotted James. l is 46.5mm. Yes that's millimeters folks!

I've double checked and that is the only error (I basically repeated the number for 'k' when typing).

I didn't expected to get the sizes so quickly. Many, many thanks for your support!

So here are the sizes.
The first table includes the sizes of the real C2, the real C4, the same sizes scaled down to 1/20, and the sizes of the models suppied by Fujimi and Burago. As you can see the sizes for the height are very confusing...
The second table compares the MFH C4 with the Burago C4.



The height which I feared might be completly wrong proved to be just slightly off. A new rollbar should already solve the whole problem.
I am rather surprised by the difference in length. I don't consider the 2mm of the nose a big problem, but another 3mm until the cockpit... Well, that's a bit much.
If I expand the frontsection a bit where the cockpit starts, I could do corrections on "size d" and "size h" at the same time. "Size e" won't be changed, unless the new engine is causing trouble with the engine-cover.

So here is the plan:
I will use an unstarted Fujimi kit of the 126C2 and will try to make a dry-build around the Burago C4 to find out, if I can get the Fujimi engine inside and how many parts can be used for the C4. I won't be able to do anything on my March-project in the next two weeks, so this might be a nice alternative project.

Happy to help and pleased if it all helps you. Just a thought, are the real car height dimension you state measured from the ground plane? if so that would explain the extra (around 50mm 1:1 / 2.5mm 1:20). Everything I measured was exactly as per your diagrams, i.e. no ground clearance factored in.

I always thought Burago models were 1/24? Out of curiosity did some searching and stumbled on this: http://amgmodels.mastertopforum.com/pri ... 26&start=0 . Looks pretty good to me...
