Rev-counter/Tachometer in 1977 Tyrrell P34

Post by Orso »

1977 SA.jpg
The 1977 P34 got a new large Rev meter. The pic is from South Africa. When did they start using it? I've seen a pic from the pre-season testing where the old round instrument was used.
I have not seen any pictures of the cockpit from the Argentinian GP and the one from Brazil is from a bad angle so I cant be sure but it looks like the old one there.

Hi orso
I build the 1:12 ver. Of MFH and in the last 3 GP he had the big tachometer. In the picture of Monaco he has the small speedo. Can not confirm 100%. If you need other pictures, just let me know.

Looking at pictures it look like both Ronnie and Depailler had the new tachometer in Monaco but in Belgium Depailler seems to have the old tachometer so it looks like I messed up on my model. I don't know if I should try to fix it and remove the large tachometer or just let it be.

I'm surprised to see you doing another P34 because I thought you've done them all. I'll be glad to see another beauty from your bench.

The earliest race I've seen the large tachometer in is in round 3, South Africa.

I have only built three P34 so far and have three more in the stash.
