Modeling Sights/Shops in southern Germany?

Post by whatisdeletrazdoing »

Hi all,

I'll be taking a trip to Germany in May and have been having trouble researching model shops. Since we've got quite the European contingent here, I figured I'd ask if anyone has suggestions for hobby shops I should check out. We'll be in Bavaria and spend a few days in Austria as well. Thanks to anyone with ideas!

Hi, the only one I know in that direction is Nimpex.de

https://nimpex.de/Laden-Oeffnungszeiten-FaNimpex

It's more near Stuttgart than Munich. But you could also visit the Porsche museum and the Mercedes museum when you there.

But nimpex is worth a visit.

Oh boy, you lucky sucker. I had the fortune of being stationed in FRG twice during the 70's. I love that beautiful country and the food is just the best. But what sticks in my mind was the Hobby Shops. No matter where you went, large or small town, there were Hobby Shops everywhere.
I guess just like here in the USA, they have been done in by the Internet. My favorite was 2 blocks from Frankfurt Bon Hof. What a place and the staff were always friendly and helpful. I pray you a safe trip and luck in finding a shop.

If you travel to Munich, a visit at the BMW Museum is a must go, in Stuttgart the Porsche Museum is located ;)

A geat source for kits, especially 1:43 in Munich is FPM, Fanz Pabst Modelcars, link to his adress:
https://www.fpm-modelcars.de/epages/625 ... es/Imprint

In Hof, a city near Bayreuth, north eastern from Munich, Autograph is located, specialized in big scale models and kits, link to adress:
https://shop.autographmodel.com/Impressum

In Wien, austria, you will find FB models, kits and detailing stuff, link to adress:
http://www.fb-models.eu/epages/61198350 ... es/Imprint

Hope this helps a bit to plan your holiday ;)

Edit: Scaleproduction in Püttlingen should be interesting too, link to adress:

Don't forget about https://www.f1m.com/hobby-shop-map And you can add new locations at https://www.f1m.com/node/add/hobby-shop

Maybe I should add a category for things that are not hobby shops like museums?

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the comments!
I'm going for 2 weeks to meet my girlfriend's family. They live in Murrhardt outside of Stuttgart. We'll have a week or so to take day trips around Bavaria so a lot of these suggestions will be great!

We're definitely going to the Mercedes Museum and the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, the Science & Technology Museum in Munich, and Hockenheim as Jim Clark is my hero. Thanks everyone!

Yeah,Sinsheim is great.
A lot of F1 cars and other racecars. And there is so much more like planes, boats and milliary stuff too.
Was there 5-6 times.
There is also a technic museum in Speyer near Hockenheim. But its more for aeroplanes and millitary than racecars.
